Wow, and just like that my little Instagram page turns 1! And what a year it's been! Let's take a look back at some of my favourite moments from 2020.

It was the 31st December 2019 when I first signed into Instagram as Be.Ginspired with the intentions of posting about my new-found love for Gin and little did I know that my eyes would be opened up to a whole new world of Juniper and the wonderful small batch distillers and businesses I would discover along the way. I was amazed to find out there was so many in Yorkshire alone and at Christmas I received a print / map containing all the Distillers in Yorkshire so throughout the year I will be checking them all off and posting about them over on the gram!

During my Gin Journey my eyes were opened up to many things including a whole community of Gin Lovers who have become great friends and they honestly made the consistent staying at home that came with 2020 much more bearable and helped to keep me sane, so to each and every one of you, THANK YOU! It's also very eye opening to be involved with so many other Gin lovers whose posts often may include Gins, serves, mixers ect that you otherwise may have never know about, after all we are all here to broaden our Juniper Based horizons are we not?

“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year - Vern Mclellan

One thing my Journey of Gin discovery has taught me is that I am far from a connoisseur when it comes to the spirit and I have much to learn but that's what makes it so much fun! Honestly, I'm not the kind of person who is able tell you what botanicals have been used from a single sniff or taste but I can tell you whether it tickles my taste buds or not! We are all individual and enjoy different strengths, tastes and serves but letting you all know the Gins that I think taste "AMAZING!" is what I love to do.

I have also had the privilege of working with some amazing distillers and businesses over the past year who have gifted me some incredible goodies which I am forever grateful for, the generosity has been wonderful and it's been so enjoyable trying the many new Gins.

I've put some of my favourite gifted items below!

With special thanks to the guys over at The Hand Made Gin Company who have sent me so many nice gins and liqueurs to try over this past year. They offer such a wide range range of Gins and Liqueurs such as Blue Marshmallow Gin which is one of the nicest flavours I have tried and its 40%. This Christmas I was also lucky enough to be sent a bottle of their ‘Garland Gin’ which is distilled using Christmas botanicals such as clementine and cinnamon and it was a delicious festive treat which I can recommend and it's a nice gin for all year round as well.

One of the greatest and most enjoyable discoveries I have made this last year has to be Enchanted Drinks who offer a wide range or Shimmer Powders, Shimmer Syrups, Gift Sets and Alcohol. My motto since first using the shimmer powder is "if it doesn't shimmer is it even worth drinking?" it's goal is to enhance the look of your drink whether alcoholic or soft and add a little fun! I know my lock down cocktails have been so much more enjoyable after adding some extra sparkle to them. I owe a great deal of gratitude to Danielle, who along with her brother own Enchanted Drinks, for the generosity and support she has shown me and for keeping me fully stocked up with a whole rainbow of shimmering goodness! Another fabulous friendship was formed here thanks to my Ginstagram journey and I cannot wait to meet the Enchanted "Bump" due next year!

“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one” - Brad Paisley

Ok, this was probably the hardest part of my post! Trying to decide from all of the wonderful Gins that have made it onto my Instagram which were at the very top of their game. After much consideration I have chosen my top 4!

Hooting Owl - Signature Gin (42%)

Complimented by citrus notes of bitter orange and grapefruit, earthiness from mountain ash and the sweetness found in liquorice and cassia bark, our Signature Gin is finished with spicy notes of cubeb and grains of paradise

Bloom Gin - Passion Fruit & Vanilla (40%)

Passion fruit and vanilla are an established delicious combo, so Bloom decided to bottle them up in gin form! You'll find tangy passion fruit paired with creamy vanilla blossom in here, and we can feel a gin-based twist on a Porn Star Martini coming on...

Zymurgorium - Flagingo Pink Gin (38%)

Here’s a Pink Gin that has confidence! Flamingos are the strutters of the bird world.

They’re exotic, vibrant and funky which gave inspiration to this true pink gin. Strutting in with flavours of the Caribbean of; Mango, Pineapple, passion fruit, allspice and ginger.

York Gin - Outlaw (57%)

At 57% York Gin Outlaw Navy Strength pushes the boundaries, like the city's villains, Guy Fawkes and Dick Turpin.

One of the most enjoyable things I’ve discovered is my love for changing up the design of my Bar Cart which has included one for Autumn, Halloween, Christmas and even one dedicated to Harry Potter (Yes i'm a potter head and proud Hufflepuff) and I decided for my 1st birthday I wanted to do a really special one and what better design for a Birthday / New Year Celebration than a Great Gatsby Style Bar Cart!

A really huge thank you to my wonderful friend Sarah over at The Sugar Alchemist for making me such a wonderful cake to celebrate!

Please head on over to my Instagram, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

So, what will 2021 bring? MANY Bar Cart Images and i'm also going to spend some time working my way though the Gins of Yorkshire. As I mentioned above I was bought at Christmas this fantastic print so I intend to work my way from start to finish and blog / post all about my new Gin discoveries and I have also set a target to reach 10k followers by this time next year so remember to share my posts! <3

I started on the 31st December 2019 with 22 bottles... many empty bottles later my home bar now contains 46 bottles to take into 2021 and I am excited to see where I end up in 1 years time!

So, at midnight on this New Years Eve I will be raising a glass to the back of 2020, the start of 2021 (we can hope this will be a better year), another great year of Be.Ginspired and to each and every one of you that reads my blogs, follows me on Social Media and continues to support my hobby.
